OVERVIEW

The second release in the series, this title was available only in Japan until it was released on the PSX as Final Fantasy Chronicles in 2001.  Game play followed the original closely, but this game introduced a new world, items, and magic, and set the tone for the coming games in the series.

STORYLINE

The citizens of the Paramekian Empire are not free. The empire itself is ruled by a psychotic, hellbent on conquering the planet, and able to summon evil monsters to crush and wage war on his enemies. Those living in the city of Phin did not want to be a part of this horror, and they fought for their freedom against all odds. Their defeat was quick and painful. Demons and armies alike entered Phin and took it down. Now, four of Phin's youth must flee to Altea. They don't know it yet, but they are soon to embark on an amazing journey, and they are about to bring the world hope. Hope for human life, for the future, and most of all...for freedom.

PROLOGUE

In a distant land...

The peace long enjoyed by the people came to a crashing end.
The emperor of Palmecia summoned fiends from another dimension...
And the empire launched its campaign for world conquest.

In response, a rebel force arose in the kingdom of Fynn.

In the ensuing clash between rebel and empire, Castle Fynn was taken.
The rebels were forced to retreat to the remote town of Altair.

Amidst the chaos, four youths also fled the occupied Fynn.
They were childhood friends, now orphaned and homeless...

And they suddenly found themselves running for their lives.
