"Lovely spot and guide to all the FF games!"
-This is kind review about our Final Fantasy fan guide was given to us by pokerlistings.com, having reviewed our work here. Their poker online content team is working with this campaign to support devoted gaming guides such as ours. Hope all of you also enjoy our posts.
If you are anything at all like me, you get fooled by Final Fantasy games
every time you play a new one. No one ever finds everything the first time
around on their own, but the game sure makes you think you can, doesn't it? I
know it happened in FF3, and it happened in FF8 - the story is almost over,
you're ready to get to the last boss, but you're only at level 30 or so. Sucks?
Oh yeah. I hope some of this stuff will be useful to you first time FF8 players.
Draw from every monster you come across. Even if a spell seems useless, chances
are you'll want to use it later on. Don't panic when you come across a boss,
either: you can Draw GFs from a few of them, as well as other high-powered
spells.
I encourage you to cheat on the SeeD tests. You get paid depending on how many
steps you take. If you're going to be walking around a lot, get your SeeD level
high. The highest rank is A (level 31), and this pays 30,000 Gil.
You can refuse it, deny it, try to avoid it altogether - but you WILL become
addicted to Triple Triad. It's not as bad as you think. The cards you win prove
extremely useful when refined into items with Quezacotl's Card Modify ability.
Even if you hate card games and are confused out of your mind with all the
rules, you'll be eventually drawn to it. It's too much fun kicking people's
asses and stealing their cards.
Learn to Junction Magic to everything. It's such a pain to sit through the
explanations, and when they don't help, take the time to figure it out on your
own. Junctioning Ultima to strength makes you quite formidable.
NEVER RUN FROM BATTLE--not only is this the way you don't level up, your SeeD
rank will also drop if you do this too much. Unless you're pressed for time, or
the enemies are incredibly hard, you should stand and fight.
The Island Closest to Heaven and the Island Closest to Hell are the best places
for level gaining, but the monsters are impossibly hard. You have to go to the
Island Closest to Hell to get the Dragon Fangs necessary to complete the Lion
Heart Gunblade. On the map below, the island circled in white is the Island
Closest to Hell, and the one circled in red is the I.C.T. Heaven. Both these
places require the Ragnarok to reach.
Take time out to explore the world when you get Balamb Garden mobile, and when
you get the Ragnarok. The story presses you to go to specific points, but it's
not a bad idea to put these things off for awhile and go out on your own to new
areas.
Forget about anything you've learned in past FF games. Remember the Vanish +
X-Zone trick from FF3? How about bouncing spells off of an ally with Reflect
onto an enemy with Reflect? The latter does not work. The former is impossible,
since there are no Vanish spells anyway.
Aura, Ultima, Full-Life, Haste, and Curaga are some of the best spells you can
find. It's a good idea to stock up on as many of them as you can. Especially
before you go to the Lunatic Pandora with the Ragnorok. Be warned--once you get
inside the Pandora, you can't go back, at least, not in normal time, so make
sure you have done everything you wanted to do.
