PIANO SQUALL DECLARES WAR ON MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS WITH DEBUT ALBUM
|
|
Under the stage name “Piano Squall”, Michael Gluck performs videogame and anime music piano concerts to raise money for charity. Michael recently announced the launch of his debut album - GAME.
GAME features Michael’s original arrangement and performance of twenty-six theme songs from videogames and anime, including Final Fantasy, Naruto, Super Mario World, InuYasha, Chrono Trigger, Cowboy Bebop, Mega Man, Chrono Cross, Full Metal Alchemist, Tetris, and Evangelion. Highlights include Michael’s signature Final Fantasy Battle Medley, which blends nine Final Fantasy battle themes together into a single spectacular piece.
Michael and the videogame publisher Electronic Arts will collaborate to donate an amount equal to 20% of all profits from GAME to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. But this is not the first time that Michael and his employer have joined forces for charity. In 2006, Michael and EA raised $8,600 for the National MS Society and $4,000 for Race for the Cure through selling “Piano Squall” posters at Michael’s concerts.
“I am always exploring new ways to combine my love of videogame and anime music with my mission to fight Multiple Sclerosis, and I couldn’t be more excited about the launch of GAME,” said Michael. “I watched my grandmother waste away in a chair, completely paralyzed by MS for the last ten years of her life. We must cure this horrible disease as quickly as possible.”
GAME is currently available for pre-order at Michael’s website, www.PianoSquall.com. The price is $9.99 with Free Shipping anywhere in the United States. Those who pre-order will receive a free Bonus Track that is not included on the CD. GAME ships 6/30/07.

Square Clarifies Stance on Xbox 360
|
|
Previously, Square hadn't made up their minds on delivering a Final Fantasy title for the Xbox 360, "As for Final Fantasy on the Xbox 360, it's currently a completely blank page."
Now however they have a dilemma. Xbox 360 hasn't been selling too well in Japan, and the PS3 hasn't been selling well in the US. Gaming analysts still expect the game to be released on the PS3 for fear of alienating their Japanese fans, but they may also have to seriously consider the Xbox 360 for a multiplatform release.

Final Fantasy 7 Will Not Be Remade
|
|
In a recent interview Tetsuya Nomura denied that a Final Fantasy 7 remake was in the works. He said that there were no plans for such a game.
All hope is not lost however,
"We of course know ourselves what the fans want so we'd like to continue thinking up a variety of things. As long as there are people who want to make it and people who are waiting for it, we don't want to proclaim 'the end.'" says Nomura.

Possible Final Fantasy 13 Release Date?
|
|
According to a UK magazine GamePro:
"In the story an exile from the floating kingdom of Cocoon, who has
been banished to the lower world, finds herself caught up in a plot to
take the sky domain down."
It is assumed that the character they are referring to is Lightning. It
was previously known that Lightning is regarded as dangerous by the
people of Cocoon and possibly being exiled. The information about the
plot against the floating city, however, is new.
It was mentioned that the release dates for both XIII and Versus
XIII will be in early 2008, though there has been no official
confirmation of this from Square. These things tend to move around a lot anyway.

Square Bringing Out a Final Fantasy Title on Xbox 360
|
|
|
Square Enix producer Hiromichi Tanaka confirmed that he was working on a new MMORPG bound for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista, adding "PS3 is a possibility." Ten months ago, Tanaka was saying just the opposite about the oft-hinted at MMO -- probably a sequel to Final Fantasy XI; possibly not. In April 2006, Tanaka confirmed the project for PlayStation 3, but made no mention of an Xbox 360 version. Now it would appear that development has shifted away from PS3 and onto Xbox 360.
Since Square Enix has already promised several versions of Final Fantasy XIII for PS3, it's in the company's interest, as a publisher concerned with multi-platform presence, to bring its next MMO to Xbox 360 first; a PS3 version could always come later. The project could also provide an opportunity to make use of Square Enix's recently acquired Unreal Engine 3 license.
